Collaboration Elevates Windsor Businesses

Monday, October 28, 2019

What goes together better than peanut butter and jam? Wellness and fitness! That’s why Shred Shop Wellness Complex joined forces with Elevate Health Boutique in a unique co-location right in the heart of Windsor’s Little Italy neighbourhood.

Shred Shop Wellness Complex, a boutique fitness studio, offers the mastery of exhilarating energy and group motivation paired with the accountability and specificity of personal one-on-one training. Shred Shop caters to go-getters and those who take their fitness seriously.

“We breed members who are comfortable where they train, confident in their coach and committed to themselves”, said owner Sawyer Telegdy.

According to Telegdy, Shred Shop outgrew its previous location eight months after opening and expanded into their new building at 815 Erie St E in September. This new location offers an additional 3,000 square feet to the training area, larger change rooms and washrooms, and increased class capacity. They are also now co-located with the wellness professionals at Elevate Health Boutique.

Elevate Health Boutique houses a team of health care practitioners who are dedicated to helping clients heal both mentally and physically. Some of their services include therapeutic massage, laser hair removal, facials, waxing, cupping and acupuncture.

“We created this space so people can come and focus on their physical and mental wellbeing without visiting multiple locations,” said owner Jessica Paterson.

Elevate Health Boutique opened its doors a month ago and is growing daily. “My future plans are to become a trusted and recognizable business that puts people's health care first, one that looks at the body and mind as a whole,” said Paterson.

The collaboration between Shred Shop and Elevate Health Boutique is like no other.

“There is a huge disconnect between the working out part of people’s fitness journey and the recovery part of their fitness journey. There is an equal need for both in order to stay healthy/uninjured and able to perform each day,” explained Telegdy, adding, “Getting fit, giving it your all and pushing as hard as you need to push in order to see impactful, life changing results takes a toll on the body. What we need to realize is mobilizing, relaxing, getting massaged and adjusted to increase blood flow to aid in healing and recovery is a game changer.”

As much as they are two separate businesses, they are still a united team with goals of collaborating on fundraising events and community events such as Crews & Brews. They also help each other professionally by cross-referring clients.

“Our client’s best interest is always at heart in both businesses, we want to do better for them,” said Paterson.

During their startup process, Teledgy and Paterson have received support and mentorship through the Small Business Centre’s Starter Company Plus and Digital Main Street programs.

Digital Main Street has helped Paterson gain confidence in social media marketing. “I love the content template and scheduling my content, this has given me the ability to manage my time better and not feel overwhelmed. I would recommend this program to anyone who was considering it,” stated Paterson.

“We are growing at a rate that I can’t keep up with without expanding my knowledge base and learning from professionals,” said Teledgy, adding, “It’s given me a great comfort in knowing there are endless resources out there. I look forward to a bright future with the Small Business Centre having my back”.
